What we measure

We count visits to learn which pages are read and how people find the site. Three tools do it:

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits, pages, the site you came from and your country. It sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser.
  • Google Analytics records which pages you open, how you arrived, your device and your approximate location.
  • Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used: clicks, scrolling and anonymous recordings of visits. It hides what you type.

Google Analytics and Clarity load only after you agree in the banner, wherever you are. Cookie settings, at the foot of every page, lets you change your answer. You can change your answer there at any time.

Google keeps Analytics data for 14 months. Microsoft keeps Clarity recordings for 30 days and its summaries for up to 13 months. Both companies may process the data outside India, including in the United States.

What is stored in your browser

  • cookie_consent: your answer to the banner, for 6 months, so that you are not asked on every page.
  • cookie_consent_geo: your country, for 30 days, kept only when the site asks some countries and not others. It stays in your browser.
  • theme: your choice of light or dark, only if you press the theme button, until you switch back.
  • Only after you agree: Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_… for up to 2 years, and Clarity sets _clck for a year and _clsk for a day. Microsoft also sets its own cookies on its sites (clarity.ms and bing.com, for example MUID), as its privacy statement describes.

What the site keeps

When you answer the banner, the site records which choices were made and when, with no IP address and nothing that identifies you, for 12 months. That record shows that we asked.

The site also keeps a list of addresses that were not found, with the page you came from and your browser’s name, but no IP address, so that broken links can be fixed.

Cloudflare, which serves the site, handles your IP address to deliver pages and to protect the site from attacks.

There are no accounts for visitors. If you write to us, your email stays in our inbox.

The form at the foot of plugin pages and guides

One short form asks what the next plugin should do. It collects your answer, your email address, your site’s address if you give it, and whether you ticked “Email me when Moorage releases something new”. With each answer the forms plugin also stores your IP address, your browser’s name, the page you sent it from and your country; we look at them only to deal with abuse.

We use the answer to decide what to make next. We use your email to reply to your answer. The box is optional and unticked until you tick it: we send release emails only if you tick it, and only when we release something new. We never add you to anything else, and we do not share or sell what you send. If you agreed to analytics in the banner, sending the form is counted as an enquiry in Google Analytics; nothing you type is sent there.

The answer is stored by EmDash’s official Forms plugin, which deletes it after 12 months. Lead Delivery, our plugin that emails it to hello@moorage.dev, deletes its copy once the email is sent and keeps a short note that it was delivered, with your email address, for 30 days. The email stays in our inbox for as long as we need it.

While you type, the form keeps your answer in this browser tab, so that reloading the page does not lose it. It is emptied when you send the form, and gone when you close the tab.

To have your answer deleted, or to stop release emails, write to hello@moorage.dev.

Your choices

Change or withdraw your consent with Cookie settings at the foot of every page; taking it back deletes the cookies of Google Analytics and Clarity. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, write to hello@moorage.dev.
